Lunch Roulette
4 cravings on the table. Spin to settle it!
Lunch Roulette ends the endless office back-and-forth over where to eat. Each person drops in what they are craving - Pizza, Sushi, Thai, or anything else - and the roulette cycles through every suggestion before landing on a single winner. The result card shows the winning craving, an automatic food emoji, and credits whoever suggested it, so you can copy it straight into Slack or Teams and head out. Use the quick-add buttons for common cuisines, or type in specific spots near the office. Everything stays in your browser - nothing is uploaded.
How to use this tool
- 1Add each person's craving on the left. Type a name (optional) and what they want to eat, then click 'Add to the table' or press Enter.
- 2In a hurry? Use the Quick add buttons for common cuisines - Pizza, Sushi, Thai, Burgers and more - to drop options in with one tap.
- 3Each craving gets a matching food emoji automatically and appears in the list. Remove any entry by hovering and clicking the x.
- 4Set the roulette length in Settings - from a Quick 2-second roll to a 15-second Suspense build-up - then click 'Spin the Roulette'. The big card rapidly cycles through every craving, slows down, and lands on the winner with a burst of food confetti.
- 5The winning craving is shown with the name of whoever suggested it. Click 'Spin Again' for a re-roll, or 'Copy result for Slack' to paste the decision into your team chat.
- 6Want the team to roll their own? Click 'Share this roulette' to copy a link with everyone's cravings baked in - whoever opens it sees the same line-up ready to spin.
Example
Five people, zero agreement, and it is already past noon. Each person adds their craving: Sushi, Burgers, Thai, Tacos, Salad. One spin and the roulette lands on Tacos - Riley's pick. Copy the result into the team channel and the whole thing is settled in under a minute.
Working from home and stuck choosing? Add the three places you keep going back and forth on, spin, and let the roulette make the call so you can get back to work.
Common use cases
- Office teams settling the daily 'where should we get lunch' debate without a 20-message thread
- Remote teams picking a cuisine for a virtual lunch or a team food order
- Friends or families deciding on a takeaway when nobody wants to choose
- Solo workers breaking their own indecision between a few favourite spots
- Event and offsite organisers picking a catering style or restaurant for the group
Common mistakes
- Adding only one craving - the roulette needs at least two options to spin. Add everyone's choice first.
- Expecting it to find restaurants near you - Lunch Roulette picks from the cravings you enter, it does not search maps or pull in local listings.
- Forgetting names are optional - you can run it as a pure craving picker without attributing each option to a person.
Frequently asked questions
Does Lunch Roulette find restaurants near me?
No. It picks from the cravings or places you type in, not from a map or location search. This keeps it instant and completely private - nothing about your location is ever requested or sent anywhere. Add the specific spots near your office if you want it to choose between real places.
Is the pick truly random?
Yes. The winner is chosen with JavaScript's Math.random() before the animation starts, so every craving on the table has exactly the same chance of winning regardless of the order it was added.
How is this different from the Spin the Wheel tool?
Lunch Roulette is built specifically for the group lunch ritual: it pairs each craving with the person who suggested it, adds food emojis automatically, has quick-add buttons for common cuisines, and produces a result formatted to paste straight into Slack or Teams. Spin the Wheel is a general-purpose wheel for any kind of decision.
Can I share the result with my team?
Yes, two ways. Click 'Share this roulette' to copy a link with everyone's cravings included - anyone who opens it gets the same line-up ready to spin. After a spin, click 'Copy result for Slack' to copy a formatted message with the winning craving, who called it, and the options it beat, ready to paste into your team chat.
Is anything I type saved or uploaded?
No. All cravings, names, and results stay in your browser for the current session only. Nothing is sent to a server, and refreshing the page clears everything.
