Add PDF files or drag and drop
PDF files only - add as many as you need
How to use this tool
- 1Click 'Add PDF files' or drag and drop your PDF files onto the upload area. You can add files one at a time or several at once.
- 2The files are listed in the order they will be merged. Use the up and down arrows next to each file to reorder them.
- 3Click the X button next to any file to remove it from the list.
- 4Once the order is correct, click 'Merge PDFs'. The merged file downloads automatically.
Example
Upload cover-letter.pdf first, then cv.pdf. Use the arrows to confirm the cover letter is first. Click 'Merge 2 PDFs'. Download the single file and rename it to YourName-Application.pdf before sending.
Upload all 12 statement PDFs, use the arrows to put them in chronological order (January to December), then merge. The resulting PDF has all pages in order for easy review by an accountant.
Common use cases
- Combining a cover letter PDF with a CV PDF into one file to send to a recruiter
- Merging monthly bank statements into a single document for an accountant or tax submission
- Joining multiple scanned receipts into one PDF for an expense report
- Combining individual chapters or sections of a report written in separate files
- Assembling a contract, appendix, and signature page into one complete document
Common mistakes
- Not checking the file order before merging - all pages from each file are included in the listed order. Use the arrows to confirm the order is correct before clicking merge.
- Uploading encrypted or password-protected PDFs - the tool cannot process password-protected files. Remove the password using a PDF tool that supports encryption before merging.
- Merging very large files on a low-memory device - processing happens in the browser. Files larger than 50-100 MB may slow down or fail on devices with limited RAM.
- Expecting individual page reordering - this tool reorders whole files, not individual pages. If you need to reorder pages within a PDF, a desktop PDF editor is needed.
Frequently asked questions
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using the pdf-lib JavaScript library. Your files never leave your device and are not sent to any server.
How many files can I merge?
There is no strict limit on the number of files. However, very large files or many files at once may slow down processing depending on your device's available memory. For very large jobs, try merging in smaller batches.
Can I reorder pages within a single PDF?
This tool reorders whole files, not individual pages. All pages from each file are included in the order the files are listed. For individual page reordering, you need a desktop PDF editor like Adobe Acrobat or PDF24.
Does merging affect the PDF quality?
No. Page content, images, text, and formatting are copied exactly as-is into the merged document. There is no re-encoding or compression.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
No. The tool cannot read encrypted or password-protected files. Remove the password protection using a PDF application that supports encryption before uploading.
What is the maximum file size?
There is no hard limit set by the tool, but large files process in the browser's memory. Files totalling more than 100-200 MB may be slow or cause the browser tab to run out of memory on some devices.
Will the merged PDF maintain bookmarks and hyperlinks?
The tool copies page content but does not guarantee preservation of document-level metadata like bookmarks, form fields, or interactive elements. For full feature preservation, use Adobe Acrobat or a professional PDF merger.
