Enter six names. Because six is not a power of two, the bracket pads to eight with two byes, so the top two seeds advance automatically to the second round. The layout handles this for you.

Common mistakes
- Expecting a round-robin or double-elimination format - this generator makes single-elimination brackets, where one loss knocks a team out.
- Entering names on one line separated by spaces - put each name on its own line or separate them with commas so they are read correctly.
- Very long names getting cut off - names longer than about 22 characters are shortened in the boxes; keep them concise for a clean print.
- Forgetting that byes are normal - if your entrant count is not 4, 8, 16, or 32, the bracket adds byes to balance the first round.
Frequently asked questions
What is a single-elimination bracket?
A single-elimination bracket pairs entrants into matches; the winner of each match advances and the loser is out. It continues round by round until one champion remains. It is the most common format for quick knockout tournaments.
What happens if I do not have a power-of-two number of teams?
The generator pads the bracket up to the next power of two (4, 8, 16, 32) and adds byes. A bye means a team advances to the next round without playing, which is standard practice for balancing brackets with odd entrant counts.
Can I print the bracket?
Yes. Download it as a PDF, which is sized to fit an A4 page, and print it to fill in results by hand. You can also download a PNG image to share online or drop into a document.
Does it seed or randomise the matchups?
By default it uses the order you enter the names. Tick 'Seed alphabetically' to sort them first. For a random draw, shuffle your list before pasting it in. The first round is filled from your list top to bottom.
Is my list of names uploaded anywhere?
No. The bracket is generated entirely in your browser and the image is created on your device. Your participant names are never sent to a server.
How many teams can I add?
You can add any number from two upward. The layout scales to larger fields, though very large brackets become wide; for readability and printing, up to 32 entrants works best on a single page.
