What bitrate should I choose?
For music, 192 kbps is a good balance and 320 kbps is near-transparent. For speech, podcasts and voice memos, 128-192 kbps is plenty. Higher bitrates mean larger files, so match the setting to the content and how you will use it.
Will the MP3 sound as good as the WAV?
MP3 is lossy, so it is not identical, but at 192 kbps and above most people cannot tell the difference in normal listening. If you need an exact copy with no loss, convert to FLAC instead, which is lossless.
How much smaller will the MP3 be?
Usually dramatically smaller. A WAV is often 8-12x the size of a 192 kbps MP3. A 50 MB WAV commonly becomes a 3-5 MB MP3, which is why MP3 is the go-to format for sharing and streaming.
Is my WAV uploaded to a server?

Does it change the sample rate?
No. The MP3 keeps the WAV's sample rate and channels. A 44.1 kHz stereo WAV produces a 44.1 kHz stereo MP3 at the bitrate you selected.
