Marketplaces are strict about product image dimensions - Amazon requires at least 1,000px on the longest side for zoom to work, Etsy recommends 2,000px square, and Shopify works best at 2,048px. Upload your product photo, pick the marketplaces you sell on, and get correctly sized images with a clean white background in one download.
How to use this tool
- 1Upload your product photo. Use the cleanest, highest-resolution version you have for the best result.
- 2Choose the background option: white (recommended for most marketplaces), transparent, or keep original.
- 3Select the marketplaces you sell on. Each has a specific pixel size based on their current requirements.
- 4Choose the fit mode: Contain fits the product within the frame with background padding (recommended for most product shots), or Cover to fill the frame.
- 5Click 'Download ZIP' to get all selected sizes as PNG files, named by marketplace.
Example
Upload a product photo shot on a light grey background. Select white background, Contain fit. Tick Amazon Main (2000x2000) and Etsy (2000x2000). Download ZIP, upload directly to both platforms. Amazon zoom feature activates because the image exceeds 1,000px.
Upload 1 hero product image. Select Shopify (2048x2048) and Shopify Thumbnail (800x800). White background, Contain. Download ZIP and import via Shopify bulk upload. Consistent sizing across all product listings.
Common use cases
- Amazon sellers ensuring main images meet the 2,000x2,000px zoom requirement
- Etsy shop owners resizing handmade product photos to the recommended square format
- Shopify merchants standardising product image sizes across an entire catalogue
- eBay listers preparing multiple images at the required minimum resolution
- Multi-channel sellers who list the same product on several marketplaces at once
- Dropshippers preparing supplier images to meet platform standards before listing
Common mistakes
- Using a source image smaller than the target size - upscaling a 500px image to 2,000px produces a blurry result. Always photograph products at high resolution.
- Ignoring the white background requirement - Amazon requires a pure white background for main product images. Use Contain mode with white background to achieve this.
- Not checking additional image slots - most platforms allow up to 7-9 images. These are often shown at different crop ratios to the main image.
- Forgetting file size limits - Amazon allows up to 10MB per image. Compress images over 5MB using the Image Compressor after resizing.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. All resizing happens in your browser. Your images never leave your device.
Why does Amazon require a white background?
Amazon's main image policy requires a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255) with the product filling at least 85% of the frame. This creates a consistent browsing experience across all listings. Secondary images can show the product in use or with coloured backgrounds.
What is the minimum image size Amazon requires for zoom to work?
Amazon requires the longest side to be at least 1,000 pixels for the zoom feature to activate. Most sellers use 2,000x2,000px to maximise zoom quality. Smaller images still list but without zoom, which reduces conversion rates.
Can I use the same image for all marketplaces?
Generally yes for the main product shot, but check each platform's specific rules. Amazon is the strictest (white background mandatory for main image). Etsy, Shopify, and eBay are more flexible about backgrounds for secondary images.
Are these sizes up to date?
These reflect current marketplace guidelines as of the last-updated date. Marketplaces update their image requirements occasionally. Check the platform's seller help centre if an upload is rejected.
What is the difference between Contain and Cover?
Contain fits the entire product within the canvas, adding background padding in the unused space - nothing is cropped. Cover fills the entire canvas, cropping the product if its aspect ratio does not match. Contain is recommended for product images so the full product is always visible.
